‘Ashura is the triumph of blood over the sword’. This is the chant I have been hearing since I was a kid and it so happened that the chant was all over the streets on the day I came to hang the works.
It probably was the numerous encounters with this sentence that no halt was allowed; or else… I’m not sure….
However, in time I gained a new understanding of this sentence; that Ashura is not merely a religious and a historical event; that the repetition of this epic has been unfolded through variegated forms and dimensions in different places over the world.
Blood is always triumphant over the sword, though its victory might not be grasped in that very instant. But it will be surely deliberated, throughout the passageway of ages.
Blood is always the same, its the swords that have altered. However, the call for justice will never be trampled underfoot.
