Two young artists are showing their photographs in this exhibition. Misha.mirmomen and Navid.sanati are introducing themselves by some speechless portraits in their first group exhibition. The portraits represent a piece of Man everyday life the man who just can’t imagine living such a life.
The exhibition which starts on 19 Feb includes some black and white photos (75.75 printed on luster photo paper) and it is on view till 26 Feb.
He writes, I write, we record, record what? We don’t know; we don’t know what is going on and maybe what goes on is not important at all. I only see what is there and that is what counts in this suffocating darkness. Tomorrow, when we grow up, we shall learn how to get used to life. It is up to us whether to use this disgusting learnt fact or not… If the problem of being or not being is to be solved somehow, it is easier for me to live. Everybody knows how to be not and yet, they keep on doing it. It is stupid not to be.
When my eyes are opened, it takes a while before I remember why I have to open them here. In the morning, we take out of the bed bodies which have lost themselves. We sit in front of teachers and professors and we are busy till night with our studies and simple dreams. We photograph life this way and the three of us are pleased! Although every other line of notebook pages are bound to infected wounds, I understand one must learn all this simplicity and we love pages in general although it is as though no page understands nothing.
Sometimes I wish to hug the world, to squeeze the shit out of it. Have you ever noticed the extent of your power? What would happen if the world resembled for a second our portraits?

IRAN Vs. Guided by Amirali Ghasemi at PiST///
PiST/// Interdisciplinary Project Space has started its Artist Information project on May 2007 to focus on Istanbul and Turkey’s contemporary art production. On 2010 this project will cross borders to focus on contemporary art practices abroad. The first country of this research series will be Iran, a neighboring country with a 499 km border with Turkey. Its capital Tehran is 66 hours away from Istanbul by train and 3 hours by plane. Iran is one of a few countries that does not request a visa from Turkish passport holders. There is a 1,5 hours time difference in between them. Both countries have a population of over 70 billion. While there is a lack of local support for the contemporary art production in Turkey, it is the opposite in Iran, rather it is difficult to get international support.
Amirali Ghasemi is an independent curator and media artist from Tehran. He is the founder of the independent art space Parkingallery and since 1998 he continues his projects there, in different countries / cities and online. Starting from January 2010, Saturday and for the following 4 weeks, PiST will start a research period with the guidance of Amirali on Iranian contemporary art. This instruction, research and discussion period will start with cliches and prejudices, and by the second week Amirali will return back to Tehran and we will continue screening those works of Iranian artists curated by him. The screenings will continue by Q&A sessions via a skype connection to Parkingallery with Amirali and those artists he will invite. On May 2010 Parkingallery will screen works from Turkey with the guidance of PiST and we will answer those questions forwarded from Tehran to Istanbul for 4 weeks.

Azad Art Gallery – Tehran, Presents CLOWNS CAN’T HAVE BABIES Paintings bySamira Eskandarfar, the exhibition opens on Friday, 08 of January 2010. The exhibition will be on till Saturday, 23 January 2010,from 16:00 to 20:00.
…Talking about the subjects of the “Clowns can’t have babies” series is really difficult, since any attempt to decode the artworks will only result in a very personal understanding of the works in regards of one’s own personal experiences. The subjects of the artworks are based on common human feelings with emphasis on the sexuality factor. The only difference is that it tends to narrate deeper and more subconscious layers. Sexuality as a factor that generates a broad spectrum of all kinds of relations gets more focus and manages to form a considerable part of the meaning which often is accompanied with a dark humor. A chaotic world that all the creatures, objects and humans are put together, mixed or related to each other in a maniac and an apparent irrelevant way which eventually produce a new meaning and space in the artworks. All these events together tend to convert the artworks to a poetic phenomenon which the artworks themselves get the chance to introduce their poetic standards to the audience, while the writings on the artworks get to finalize its poetic mystery….
