Maciunas was the<br \/>\norganizer and driving force behind the artist collective known as<br \/>\n<a onclick=\"return top.js.OpenExtLink(window,event,this)\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/FLUXUS\" target=\"_blank\"> Fluxus<\/a>.  Their publications, performances, instruction works and<br \/>\nobjects were mainly produced in the 1960s in New York, but included<br \/>\nevents and collaborations in Europe and Japan.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Fluxfilms, especially when taken in context with other Fluxus<br \/>\nperformances, insisted on gradual deconstruction not only of the<br \/>\nvarious components of the cinematic apparatus, but of cinema itself.<br \/>\nAfter eliminating the projector, there is nothing left but the<br \/>\nscreen&#8230;. With the traditional movie space eliminated, the viewer<br \/>\n&#8216;generates&#8217; his or her own screening situation&#8230;.
